2010 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Victoria Clark, John Duggan Memorial Scholarship.  "Tory," who is Lion Judy's granddaughter, will be attending Sacred Heart University, majoring in biology.  She hopes to go to Veterinarian school in the future.

Shannon Doherty, PDG Joe Fullam Memorial Scholarship.  Shannon, who loves soccer, will be attending Wentworth Institute, majoring in civil engineering.

Katrina Kirk, Frank Spano Memorial Math Award.  Northeastern University is where Katrina will be heading in September. She will pursue a nursing or pre-med track.

Crystal Brooks, Norwell High School Scholarship.  Crystal's off to the Mass. College of Pharmacy to work toward a business degree.


OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY goes out to Debi Bell and family, and to Lion Betty Servant, on the death of their mother and sister, Lion "Sister Gail" Gamble.

Charter Member Lion Syd Fishman, and his wife Joyce, send best wishes to the club.  They reside in Florida, and have recently moved into an independent living facility.

Lions Clubs International Foundation is committed to aiding communities affected by disasters, including the most recent disaster in Pakistan. LCIF is providing US$120,000 to help Lions in providing relief to their communities.  More than 20 million people have been affected and displaced, representing eight percent of the country, and 1,500 people are dead, following the deadliest flooding in 80 years. The last meeting was waaaaaay back on June 16, 2010, when we held our Annual Scholar-ship Presentation Night.  What a thrill to see Lion Lou, and Phyllis.  You looked great, Lion Lou!  And, it was also great to see Lion Joe who trekked up from Plymouth for this special night.  Congratulations to our scholar-ship recipients (see the column to the left).

DISTRICT 33S EVENTS

Congratulations to District Governor Joyce Middleton as she assumes leadership of District 33S.  DG Joyce has asked Lion Rev. Alan to once again be the District 33S Chaplain.

The first District 33S Cabinet Advisory Meeting will be held Monday, August 30, at 7PM, at Raynham Lions' King Philip Hall in Raynham.  A Burgers and Dogs Cookout.

Our club has purchased an ad in the District 33S Directory. Copies of the Directory will be available at the Cabinet Advisory Meeting.

Coming - District 33S First Annual Coat Drive, in partnership with "Coats for Kids" and Anton Cleaners.  Donations of "gently-used" coats, hats, scarves and gloves are welcome. Donations accepted at the Aug. 30 Cabinet/Advisory Meeting, as well as on future dates and t.b.a. locations.  For more information, contact Zone Chair Sharon Audette (sharon_audette@comcast.net).

RECENT DONATIONS

$100.00 to the Friends of Eric Donovan to assist Eric, a Scituate resident, in his ongoing recovery and therapy following a debilitating accident.

$200.00 (given through the St. Vincent dePaul Society) to assist a disabled Scituate resident obtain a badly needed new stove.  We thank the Scituate Council on Aging for referring this need to us, and to the St. Vincent dePaul Society for their cooperation.
